Case Study – Kays Scotland

For over 173 years, Kays Curling in Mauchline have produced curling stones, and since 1998 have crafted every curling stone used during the Winter Olympic Games.

Cut from two types of Ailsa Craig granite – where so far the same mineral content has never been found anywhere in the world – they are trusted in competition globally by The World Curling Federation and the professional curling athletes.

On Thursday 20th October 2022, Kays Curling were honoured with a visit from HRH Anne, The Princess Royal.

During the visit some 4K video footage was recorded, but only a small number of photographs were taken. Just under a year later in October 2023, we were approached by Kays and asked to extract high quality still images from the video footage.

Over the course of several days, we extracted just under 20,000 individual files and systematically selected only the finest and clearest images. These were then distributed on USB sticks to VIP’s who attended the event.

Jim English – Kays Curling Managing Director – said, “Everyone is delighted with the quality of the images produced, and we’d like to thank Stinstoun Digital for the excellent service provided”.
